Product: Deskjet 2540
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Scan error, diagnostics in control panel say scanner ok.  I get an error pressing scan in printers and scanners.  solution posted, but link not available :

I am trying to use the USB connection to scan.

Had the Deskjet for some time, just took it out of the box.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-2540-all-in-one-printer-series/5295960

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

 

If you have done that, try to uninstall and reinstall again.
