HP Color Laserjet MFP M277dw
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hi,

I use the HP 277 to scan on a network drive - I always start the scan process on the scanner itself on the LCD display. Until now it was running smoothly. Now I get an "Error79 message" after pressing scan on the LCD display. The message disappears afterwards and I see the menu again. Printing over the network and scan-to-email works both still fine.

I use a HP Color Laserjet MFP W277DW.

Firmware: 2020-11-19 (no newer found)

Switching off the printer and remove all cables has not worked.

Using the reset-button on the lcd button has not worked.

I saw some other posts that this is a firmware problem, but I haven't found a way to solve it (they were mainly referring to printing issues with error79). In some posts, the HP support was sending PMs to the owners with possible solutions - so if possible help me!

Joe

Thanks for this info - unfortunately the factory reset doesn't help. After factory reset and re-entering all the info, it is the same error.

UPDATE: I changed the network path (same NAS-server and network drive, but different path) and now it is working 🙂

Quite strange, but ok as solution ...

I would try performing a full factory reset. You will lose all your settings but if there is corruption in the printers OS this should fix it.
