I Have a similar error however mine shows up just when using the fax. I went through the wizard and restart both my MAC and printer with no success. I too have had this many years and this error has never shown up until now. My model is an HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g Series. My fax text report passed but the error remains. Can you please help?

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

Are you trying to use HP Digital Fax to Receive Faxes to a Computer or Email?

Could you attach a picture of the username and password prompt.
