HP Officejet Pro 8720

I cannot send or receive a fax. I have dial tone. It will dial but says no answer on other end. When I receive a fax, I can see who is sending but it will fail. I have worked with my phone company and their end works. I have done all the steps HP says to do with no luck. Any ideas? My only other conclusion is the phone connection on back of printer isn't working. But, I don't know how to check it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to HP support community.

Change the Error Correction Mode setting

Error Correction Mode (ECM) prevents loss of data due to poor phone lines by detecting errors that occur during transmission and automatically requesting retransmission of the erroneous portion. Phone charges are unaffected, or might even be reduced, on good phone lines. Depending on the age and quality of the phone lines, ECM can improve fax quality or cause data loss. The default setting is On.

To turn change the ECM setting, open the fax menu, select Basic Fax Settings, Advanced Fax Settings, or Preferences, select Error Correction Mode, then select On or Off.

If the issue persists, Restore fax settings to default: Restore factory default fax settings, and then run the fax setup wizard again.
