OfficeJet Pro 6978
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've tried to fax from my all in one Office Jet Pro 6978 several times. Each time the result is 'Busy'. I've just changed the phone line to a 2 prong line as was suggested by our local Best Buy. The line arrived in the mail today; I tried faxing twice to two different fax numbers with the same result: BUSY. This is very frustrating. Please HELP!

For testing purposes try to send a fax to your mobile phone to see will your mobile phone start ringing or you will have Busy result. Try calling the fax number from your mobile phone to see will your HP Officejet recognise the incoming call.

Have you run a fax test from the printers menu?

The issue has been resolved. I did indeed try to send a fax from my mobile phone and received the usual fax tone. After an hour on the phone the Comcast agent was able to troubleshoot the issue and we've successfully faxed out now. It's an issue HP OfficeJet Pro has with a few things: Under Preferences on the Fax menu make sure of these things:

1. Scan and Fax Method is set to On

2. Auto Answer is set to On

3. Auto Redial is set to On under Busy Redial, No Answer Redial is Off,  Connection Problem Redial is On

4. Automatic Reduction is On

5. Two-Sided Fax Printing is Off

6. Tray Selection is set to Automatic

7. Stamping is Off

8. Dialing Prefix is Off

9. Error Correction Mode is Off

10. Backup Fax Reception is On

11. Fax Volume is Soft (this was a personal choice)

12. Dial Type is Tone

13. Speed is set to Slow

If I've not addressed a setting on your printer in the Fax menu it is likely not significant. Happy Faxing from your All-In-One Printer!
