Hi @LifeCoach86

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Yes, you can send faxes with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018!

This printer includes fax capabilities, allowing you to send and receive both black-and-white and color faxes.

Here's a detailed guide to help you set up and use the fax feature:

1. Setting Up Fax

Connect the Phone Line:

  • Plug one end of the phone cord into the Line port on the back of the printer.
  • Connect the other end to a wall phone jack.

Configure Fax Settings:

  • Access the printer’s control panel and navigate to Setup > Fax Setup.
  • Enter your fax header (name and phone number) and set preferences like fax resolution and speed dial.

Test the Fax Connection:

  • Use the Fax Test option in the printer’s menu to ensure the connection is working properly.

2. Sending a Fax

From the Printer:

  • Place the document you want to fax in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or on the scanner glass.
  • Select Fax on the control panel, enter the recipient’s fax number, and press Send.

From Your Computer:

  • Open the HP Smart app or your computer’s fax software.
  • Select the document you want to fax, enter the recipient’s fax number, and send it directly from your computer.

3. Receiving a Fax

  • Ensure the printer is set to Auto Answer mode in the fax settings.
  • Incoming faxes will be printed automatically or saved digitally, depending on your preferences.

4. Advanced Fax Features

  • Digital Fax: Save incoming faxes directly to your computer or email.
  • Fax to PC: Available for Windows users, allowing you to manage faxes digitally.
  • Speed Dial: Store up to 99 fax numbers for quick access.

Thank you for the time to respond. however, I wasn't asking if i could fax something. I was asking if i could fax something using the internet or wi-fi. I do not have a phone line to connect to it.

Ah, I see what you're asking now—thanks for clarifying! Yes, you can fax using the internet or Wi-Fi with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018, even without a phone line. Here's how:

1. Use HP Mobile Fax

  • HP Mobile Fax is a feature available in the HP Smart app that allows you to send faxes over the internet.
  • Download the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
  • Open the app, select Mobile Fax, and follow the prompts to upload your document and enter the recipient's fax number.
  • No phone line is required for this feature.

2. Enable HP Digital Fax

  • If supported, you can set up HP Digital Fax to send faxes via email or save them digitally.
  • On your printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Fax Setup > Advanced Settings > Digital Fax Setup.
  • Configure the settings to forward faxes to an email address or save them to a folder.

3. Use Online Fax Services

  • Alternatively, you can use third-party online fax services like eFax or MyFax. These services allow you to send and receive faxes using your internet connection.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

You are Welcome!

Yes, your HP printer can provide confirmation that a fax was successfully sent to the recipient. You can enable the Fax Confirmation Report feature, which prints a report after each fax is sent.

Here's how to set it up:

Steps to Enable Fax Confirmation:

  1. Access the Printer Control Panel:
    • On the printer's touchscreen, select Fax.
  2. Navigate to Fax Settings:
    • Tap the gear icon (Settings) and select Fax Setup.
  3. Enable Fax Confirmation:
    • Look for the Fax Confirmation option under Reports.
    • Choose one of the following settings:
      • Off: No confirmation report.
      • On (Fax Send): Prints a confirmation report for every fax you send.
      • On (Fax Receive): Prints a confirmation report for every fax you receive.
      • On (Fax Send and Fax Receive): Prints a confirmation report for both sent and received faxes.

The confirmation report will include details such as the recipient's fax number, the date and time, and whether the fax was successfully transmitted.

Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
