I have a brand new HP ScanJet Pro N4600 fnw1

 

I installed the software and then proceeded to install and update the firmware.  Everything looked like it was going OK but then a red screen appeared on the scanner that said "An Error occurred with the firmware file's digital signature."

 

This screen is locked on the scanner and all you see is the red screen with the above message.

 

Please Help!

  1. Unplug scanner from the wall outlet.
  2. If the power cord has a transformer (wall wart) unplug from the scanner also.
  3. Press the power button 2-3 times to discharge residual electricity.
  4. Wait 60 second then plug back in and turn on.


Make sure the scanner is on a regular outlet and not plugged into a UPS or any device that has a surge limiting capability.

 

Return the scanner if it does not power up.

 

This is a peer to peer forum. I do not have any phone numbers for you to call and typically any phone numbers you see on this forum are posted by scammers and the numbers are deleted (hopefully) as soon as they are discovered.

Thank you for the suggestion but the "red screen of death" is still there.
