How to use it like a simple printer to print and scan ? It  is the only printer I have and I am the only person using it. Why on earth should I login / change passwords / prove that I am human and all that stupid things ??  And the timing it chooses to ask you all this is driven by AI  to frustrate you the maximum ... you want to print your flight ticket before leaving home and it knows that is the right time. 

 

How to stop the Login requirements ? ( I know buying a Cannon is a good option that just prints when you ask it to )

You already have the account (HP Account) you would need.

 

Yes, you are correct:

To use the HP Smart application - at this time and for several versions since late 2020 - you must sign into the application using your HP Account. 
 

You may refer to this document for further assistance. 


However, you may also try using HP scan and capture and see if that helps

Good day ! 

 

Thanks for trying to help.  I could see that its a really a problem when I try to use the HPSmart application.  Looks like its still evolving and not reached the stage where it really is smart to know who I am  !!  Not only does it ask for password but also shows me dogs and cats and asks which is standing upright .... looks like HP has been hit by bots regularly. 

 

No issues. So to use the printer like a normal not so smart human, can I uninstall the HPSmart and just go with the basic drivers to just print and scan ?

I would need a few details to check if it is anything to do with HP smart app.

 

How to enable and collect HP Smart logs

 

Enable logging

  1. Open HP Smart
  2. Click on “Settings” icon, then click on “About”
  3. Click on “HP Smart” logo 10 times and image below appear.

 

  1. Turn On “Enable logging” and press “Save Settings”
  2. Return to Home screen and replicate the issue.

 

Collecting logs

  1. In Home screen, click on “Settings” icon, then click on “About”
  2. Click on “HP Smart” logo 10 times and image below appear.

  1. Click Copy logs and save the file on your Desktop or any folder.
  2. Send the file to us.
  3. Turn off the “Enable logging” and go back to Home screen.

I finally GOT RID of the HP smart nuisance !!  Uninstalled it for good. and made sure there is no trace of it on my PC. 😊😄

 

Invoked the HP Printer assistant and that's all I need. Its such a happy moment in life.

 

And now HP  has improved so much that every time I log into this forum , it wants prove that I am a human. What an insult !  I think its time to totally move away from HP lock-stock-barrel
