If you are still looking for assistance,
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the connection error with your HP Officejet 6255 Printer and the HP Smart app:
Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your router and try reconnecting the printer to the network.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Update HP Smart App:
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed.
- If you're using a mobile device, go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and check for updates.
Reinstall HP Smart App:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app from your device.
- Restart your device.
- Reinstall the HP Smart app from the respective store and set up the printer again.
Check Firewall and Antivirus:
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking the connection.
Assign Static IP Address:
- Assign a static IP address to your printer. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
- To do this, access the printer's web interface by entering its IP address in a web browser and configure a static IP under the network settings.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and resolve many connectivity and scanning issues.
Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.

Hi @crctvi ,
Kindly find the next set of steps below.
Additional Steps for Connection Error:
Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Open the HP Smart app and go to "Printer Settings."
- Find the printer’s IP address.
- Open a web browser and enter the IP address to access the EWS.
- Verify network settings and ensure the printer is connected properly.
Check Printer Status:
- Make sure the printer is not in sleep mode or showing any error messages on its display panel.
- If the printer is in sleep mode, press the power button to wake it up.
Connect Using USB:
- If the Wi-Fi connection is not working, try connecting the printer to your computer using a USB cable and see if it resolves the issue.
If you still encounter issues after trying these steps, I recommend you contact phone support.
