Hi @MarialS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:

1. Verify Network Configuration

Ensure your printer is correctly configured on your network. Check that the IP address and network settings are properly set up.

2. Update Printer Firmware

Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date, as updates can often fix protocol-related issues:

  • Go to HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  • Download the latest firmware updates and follow the instructions to update your printer.

3. Check Email Server Settings

Ensure that the email server you're using supports the protocol required by your printer settings. You might need to adjust settings or verify the compatibility:

  • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Navigate to Network Settings and verify the email server configuration.

4. Update HP Web Jetadmin

If you manage your printer with HP Web Jetadmin, ensure you have the latest version installed as updates may include fixes for network and email protocols:

5. Adjust Email Protocol Settings

Sometimes adjusting the email protocol or authentication method can resolve the issue:

  • Access the printer's EWS.
  • Go to the Scan to Email settings.
  • Ensure the email protocol settings such as SMTP, ports, and SSL/TLS are correct.

6. Network Security and Configuration

Verify and reconfigure network security settings if necessary. This may involve changing SNMP credentials or verifying certificate configurations:

  • Access HP Web Jetadmin if applicable.
  • Ensure SNMP configuration settings are correctly set.
  • Verify that the network security settings are compatible with the email server.

Let me know how it goes.
