Welcome to the HP support community.

Which application are you using to scan?

I am now using HP Smart. Previously the scan option was on the printer icon on my Apple MacBook Air printer icon. The scan option has mysteriously disappeared more than once from my dock. I certainly can use your help.

I understand that you are not getting the scan option on the HP Smart app.

Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app to fix the issue:-

Here are the steps to uninstall:-

Delete from /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/HP Smart. Then delete HP Smart from the Applications folder and reinstall from the Mac App Store.

Download and install the HP Smart app from this link:- Click here

Update the Mac.

  1. From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose System Preferences.
  2. Click Software Update.
  3. Click Update Now or Upgrade Now: Update Now installs the latest updates for the currently installed version.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
