Hi @ROBIDUE ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One Printer scanner is not working on MacOS 12.0 Monterey and you're encountering a communication error, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the USB or network cable connecting the scanner to your computer is securely plugged in.
  • If you're using a wireless connection, make sure that the printer/scanner is connected to the same network as your Mac.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your Mac and the HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One Printer. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve communication issues.

Update Drivers:

  • Visit the official HP website to check for the latest printer and scanner drivers that are compatible with MacOS 12.0 Monterey. Download and install any available updates.

Reset Printing System:

  • Go to "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Select "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left side and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Confirm the action and restart your Mac.
  • Re-add your HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One printer and scanner.

HP Easy Start:

  • Download and run the HP Easy Start utility from the HP website. This tool can help you install the latest drivers and software for your printer/scanner.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no conflicting software or third-party applications that might be causing the communication error. Temporarily disable or uninstall any such software and check if the issue persists.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a diagnostic tool provided by HP. It can identify and fix common printing and scanning problems.

Check System Preferences:

  • In "System Preferences," go to "Security & Privacy" and ensure that the HP scanning software is allowed to access your computer.

Firewall Settings:

  • Check your firewall settings to ensure that they are not blocking the communication between your Mac and the HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One Printer scanner.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
