Our HP 7740 is our default printer. For most print jobs it functions OK. 
But from our business program (Sage) it tries to send the print job to the HP 7740 (fax). There is nothing in the Sage Printer set-up that give us the choice of which option on the 7740 to use. It seems to automatically "find" the "Fax" feature of the 7740.

How can I completely disable the Fax function on the 7740 Control Panel?

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

 

1. Correct the Printer Driver (Windows)
If print jobs are being sent as fax, the system may be using the wrong driver.

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners).
  • Locate your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740. If it appears as “Fax - HP OfficeJet Pro 7740”, this means the fax driver is selected.
  • Choose the standard HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer and set it as the default device to restore normal printing.

2. Disable Automatic Fax Reports
If the printer is continuously printing fax logs, this setting can be turned off to stop unwanted pages.

  • On the printer touchscreen, open Setup/Menu.
  • Navigate to Reports > Fax Reports.
  • Select Fax Activity Log or Automatic Fax Log, then choose Off or Don’t Print.

3. Clear Stuck Fax Jobs
Pending fax jobs can cause repeated printing or delays.

  • From the printer control panel, tap Fax > Fax Menu > Fax Reports.
  • Check for any error or pending fax jobs and cancel them.
  • Perform a hard reset: keep the printer on, unplug the power cord, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect it.

4. Install the Correct Print Driver
To ensure smooth communication between the printer and your computer:
