HP 7740 can't scan to .jpeg on HPSmart

Hi All

My HP 7740 has scanned perfectly to .pdf or .jpg, using HPSmart app , for ages.

It's suddenly started to only scan to .pdf, with no alternative given to save to .jpg. If I pre-set the scan to photo, it doesn't  even complete the scan, then the app switches off.

I have switched both the computer and printer off and on, plus re-loaded the HPSmart App..... Same problem.


I'm sure this is a HP software problem - I can still scan to.jpg on the 7740, using the Windows App.
Can anyone help please?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

 

We tried HP Smart on both PC and Android phone and got the option to Save as JPG.

 

On PC:

Save options.jpg

 

Can try to uninstall HP Smart.

 

1. Click Windows Start

2. Go to HP Smart 

3. Right-click and select Uninstall

 

Reinstall HP Smart

1. Go to Microsoft Store

2. Search for HP Smart

3. Install HP Smart

 

After installing, Open HP Smart and then Add the printer.

I have done the procedure you described 3 or more times. The last time this AM.

Same problem persists. 

I don't often scan to .jpg so I'm not left completely in the lurch as I can still scan to .pdf. 
If I need a .jpg, scan I use the Windows Scan app with the same HP printer (!!)

Not sure what to do....

Thanks for the feedback. One alternative is to use the HP FULL Solution software, which has the Scan to JPEG feature.  Download from this link:
