Hi @Nadine1113 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 8010e printer is not scanning documents from the feeder, there could be several reasons behind this issue.

Here's a troubleshooting guide you can follow:

  • Check Feeder for Obstructions: Inspect the feeder area for any paper jams, debris, or other obstructions that may be preventing the scanner from properly feeding the documents.
  • Ensure Proper Loading: Make sure that the documents are loaded correctly into the feeder tray. Ensure they are aligned properly and not exceeding the maximum capacity allowed by the feeder.
  • Clean Feeder Rollers: Over time, the feeder rollers can accumulate dust and debris, leading to feeding issues. Clean the feeder rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions on cleaning.
  • Check Scanner Settings: Verify that the scanning settings are configured correctly. Ensure that the scanner is set to scan from the feeder tray and not from the flatbed.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause scanning issues. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model. Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet 8010e All-in-One Printer series
  • Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on.
  • Reset Printer: If the issue persists, you can try resetting your printer to its factory defaults. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can often resolve various issues and improve performance. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Test with Different Documents: Try scanning different types and sizes of documents to see if the issue persists with all documents or if it's specific to certain types/sizes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
