HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP 8020e all-in-one printer scanner that scans to computer from the flatbed, but will not scan using the document feeder. The feeder dings and recognizes the feed and scans through, but I get a mispick notification each time and no usable scan. I have cleaned the rollers and unplugged/plugged back the printer. I have run the HP Scan Doctor which does not show any issue until I run a test scan which again gives the mispick and/or "paper not picked up" error message. I have updated any and all software and drivers and I have unistalled and reinstalled the HP App and reset everything. Still arrive at the same problem. Nowhere can I find a fix for "Mispick Problems" with my printer/scanner. Thank You.

Hi @Albarebel,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already taken most of the key troubleshooting steps for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e's document feeder issue. The "mispick" error typically points to issues with the document feeder's paper-pick mechanism. Here are a few additional suggestions you might try.

Clean the Paper Path and Sensors:

  • Rollers and Pads: In addition to cleaning the rollers, make sure to clean the separation pad and any paper path areas where debris or dust might accumulate.
  • Sensors: The document feeder might have small sensors that detect paper presence and feeding. Use a soft, lint-free cloth or compressed air to gently clean these sensors.

Check Paper Type and Alignment:

  • Ensure you're using the correct type of paper that meets the printer's specifications. Avoid any damaged, wrinkled, or folded paper.
  • Align the paper stack properly in the document feeder. Sometimes slightly off-kilter paper can cause feed issues.

Load Fewer Sheets in the ADF:

  • Try loading fewer sheets at a time, especially if you're working with thicker or heavier paper. Sometimes document feeders have issues with handling multiple pages.

Reset Printer Again:

  • Although you mentioned resetting, try performing a full reset:
    1. Unplug the printer from power.
    2. Wait 2-3 minutes.
    3. Plug it back in and turn it on. This process can clear any lingering settings or errors.

Paper-Feed Calibration:

  • Some HP printers have a feature that allows you to calibrate the paper feed. Check the printer's control panel or software for any calibration options related to the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

Firmware Reinstallation:

  • In some rare cases, reinstalling or re-flashing the printer's firmware (even if it's up to date) can resolve errors related to document feeding.

Check ADF Hardware:

  • If none of the above steps work, there could be a hardware issue with the ADF mechanism itself. It may require inspection or replacement of parts like the rollers, sensors, or the entire ADF unit.

Test with a Different Computer:

  • Try using the ADF to scan to a different computer (or device) to rule out any potential software compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
