Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8630.

I get a message on the printer control panel: cannot send or receive faxes.

Also the option to do a fax test issues an error that “this feature has been locked by the administrator or the person who set up the printer”. Reset to factory defaults does nothing. I checked security on the printer web page and it’s ok. A few fax functions have a / through them producing the above message. It’s been a real nuisance to diagnose. Everything else works on the printer or it would be garbage right now.

Any ideas?

Hi @ElliotGB,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, but let's see if we can narrow down the issue further.

First, let's confirm that the fax line is properly connected to your printer. Ensure that the phone cord is securely plugged into both the printer and the phone jack on the wall.

Next, check the fax settings on your printer. Access the printer's menu or settings interface and navigate to the fax settings. Ensure that the fax settings are configured correctly, including any necessary settings such as the country/region code, dialing prefix, and fax header.

Since you've already reset the printer to factory defaults without success, it's possible that there may be a deeper issue with the printer's firmware or hardware.

If you haven't already done so, you can also try updating the printer's firmware to the latest version. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues with printer functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
