Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I recently purchased an HP 9018 All in One unit and cannot use the scan function, as I cannot download the required driver/software. Each time I've tried to download the software, I've received the following error message:

"Error writing to file: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\HPSimplified_bd.ttf. Verify that you have access to that directory.'

I've run HP Scan Doctor, which did not help. I've called HP multiple times and they are unable to assist. I've contacted my company's Help Desk and they cannot fix the issue. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Thank you in advance for your help!

@Tammi68, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Are you the administrator of the PC?

Follow the steps to isolate and resolve the issue-

First, uninstall the printer software from the root level and give permissions for the program files folder.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Press the "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open -

Type C:\ProgramData hit ok
Right-click on the program data folder and select "Properties"
Go to the Security tab, and select "Users" from the group or usernames
Click "Edit"
Select Users, then check the box by "Full Control"
Click "Apply"
You may get a whole bunch of error messages about inheritance, just hold down the Enter key until they all go away.
Click "Cancel" a couple of times to dismiss the properties boxes
Go forth and print from any application and check.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
