Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I have a new HP 9125e All-in-One printer scanner. If I use the HP scan assistant app on my HP laptop, the scanned document appears instantly ready to be saved in the dialog box as soon as the scan is complete.   But when I initiate the scan from the control panel on the printer, it takes a full 4 min for the scanned document to appear in the designated file subdirectory on my laptop. Why does it take so long when I initiate from the printer rather than the laptop?  Four min to download the file is unacceptable.

I don't know.

Printer Specs

Processor speed = 1.2 GHz
Maximum Memory = 512MB

Perhaps one or more of the following --

  • Network speed and load
  • Destination location / permissions / checks
  • Scan Content type / resolution
  • Background priority as compared to normal system priority granted to interactive "user run" tasks

Dragon Opinion

FYI

As you've discovered, the printer certainly has enough resource (memory) and capacity to scan content for later saving or printing.

Network clogged?

Maybe --

Check your router logs any hint too many devices using too much resource, issues, or overloading.

Not the source of the slowness?  Ignore.

Jobs that you (the user) run interactively are assigned a priority meant to be sure you are receiving the system resources needed to complete your tasks.

What else?

When you actively configure a scan job from within a supported application or software, much of the configuration (job setup) is packaged into the job that is sent to the printer.  For example, the full job submission might / can include Resolution, Content Size / Boundaries, Content Type.  As soon as the scan is complete, you can quickly select the default (offered) destination or select a different folder.

Scanning from the printer to the computer depends on pre-packaged instructions from start to finish.  When the printer is ready to send the content to the computer, destination locations, logins, and permissions are checked.

For example - Job completion might include:

  • Content type and scan resolution
  • Check system permission,
  • Destination selection (both accessibility and account / destination permissions),
  • Resource Priority  -- That is, a job you are running with an application might be granted a higher / normal priority than would be a job running in the background.
  • In particular, checking Cloud Drive "Save" accessibility in the background might not be as fast as using an application that has the permissions embedded.

What else?

Printer onboard Scan Defaults might play a role in how the content is scanned.

HP Smart Shortcuts might complete faster -- the Cloud Save account location and permissions are built into the Shortcut.

Example - EWS - Scan to Network Folder - Scan Defaults
