HP 9500mfp Scan To Where and How?

I don't have the network skills to know if I'm getting close to scanning from the 9500mfp and sending the scan anywhere.

Do I need software?  What kind?  Where to find?

Do I need a tutorial on setting up the send to eMail?  Where do I find it?  The user manual isn't enough for me to figure it out.

Thank you for the reply.  I have gone through this page in the manual; but I'm not getting anything sent from the mfp. 

I get the response; "E-mail is not responding."  Within the help box is the message; "Administrator?"  There is no additional help.

I am not an administrator; and one is not available.

Is there a better example or tutorial on the setup process than what is available within the user manual?

Is there software that would allow the scanner to function and send to another device (maybe network storage)?

Do you have an SMTP gateway? What happens when you enter your SMTP gateway and press test? I hope you didn't enter  16.234.33.148 for your SMTP gateway because we use different gateways on our networks.

Nope; didn't enter 16.234.33.148.  My skills are a little above parroting the example.

When I do a Find Send Gateways; I get "Gateways Failed."

The option of Send To Folder does not let me specify a folder.  Is there a way to do that?

Don't use find gateway option, you need to manually enter your gateway and apply test option to check. Configuring a send to the mail should be a 3-minute job.

It's a 3-minute job if you know your SMTP gateway. How is your email configured?

This should be a good Gateway; but the printer can't find it.
