@Jhon31, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on the visual artifacts (vertical yellow lines across the entire scan and unclear or unreadable scanned text on the left side), here are the most likely causes and solutions:
Dirty Scanner Glass / ADF Strip
Cause: Dust, ink, or smudges on the scanner glass or Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) strip can cause vertical lines or poor-quality scans.
Fix:
- Open the scanner lid.
- Thoroughly clean both the flatbed glass and the narrow strip of glass next to it (ADF scan area) using a soft lint-free cloth lightly dampened with glass cleaner. Do not spray directly on the glass.
Hardware Malfunction (ADF CIS sensor issue)
Cause: The ADF’s Contact Image Sensor (CIS) might be failing.
Fix:
- Try scanning from the flatbed, not the ADF, and see if the issue persists.
- If the flatbed scan is fine, the issue is with the ADF hardware.
Incorrect Scan Settings
Cause: If brightness/contrast settings are incorrectly configured, they may exaggerate minor sensor issues.
Fix:
- Check HP Smart or HP Scan software.
- Set resolution to 300 dpi, color mode to Color, and reset any brightness/contrast tweaks to default.
Outdated / Corrupted Driver or Software
Cause: Even if firmware is up to date, an outdated or corrupt scan driver might be causing issues.
Fix:
Uninstall and reinstall the latest HP Color LaserJet MFP 179fnw Full Software Solution from the official HP site:

I hope this helps.
