HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw is connected to my wifi network and working just fine. The problem I have is that can not get the scan to networkfolder function setup. I used the EWS to setup the connection to the shared folder on my laptop but when I click save and test the connection cannot be made. The folder name is shown on the printers display but it cannot connect to the computer.

I used HP Print and Scan Doctor to check everything. The scandocter says it fixed some problems but when I hit the test scan button I get the message:

You should set your network to Private Network to allow sharing access, assuming my limited dutch is correct, your PC is currently set as Public Network.

Click Change Connection Properties (verbindingseigenschappen Wijzigen - Thanks Google Translate 😉 !).

Change your network type to Private instead of Public and check if you may see any difference then.

Scanning to a network folder can only be done from the printer screen, not from the computer.

Using the HP Scan software is a different feature, both are not related to each other and the HP Print and Scan Doctor will not help to resolve any such problem.

Please make sure your printer firmware is up to date:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/FW_CPE_Consumer/M277_K5/HP_LaserJet_Pro_M277_Series_FW_Upd...

Additionally, when you click Save and Test from the printer's page, what exact error is shown?

Thanks for the response!

I updated the firmware according to your instructions.

I will add a screenshot of the EWS and the message after clicking on the save and test button

The test was unsuccessful. Try again.

Thanks,

Could you please attach a picture of your sharing settings, within the screen where you press Save and Test?

Additionally, is your Windows user account is password protected? HP Laserjet printers will fail to connect with such an error for a user with no password configured.

My Windows user account is password protected

Is this the screen you asked for:

Thanks, that's looking fine indeed.

Right-click the Wireless icon and select Open Network & internet settings

Does it list a Private Network or any other kind?

Also, click the Windows Logo + l keys to lock your PC, and ensure you are using a Password and not a PIN by any chance (it should be listed within the password box as Password, not as PIN) and make sure you indeed type a password, which is quite a common mistake.

Please let me know,

Shlomi
