Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hi, I have spent a considerable amount of time going through the HP instructions several times to set up scan to a network folder.  However, although the document scans, it then shows "canceling....".  On one occasion, it did say that scan had been sent but it has not shown up on my pc. This printer is a new replacement for a similar model where I was able to set up the process with no problem.  Can anyone help?

Scan to Network Folder is one of the supported Digital Send features on this printer.

I doubt I can add anything to what you have tried -- consider this a well intended attempt.

-- Start --

The first part of what follows is not completely Operating Specific-- the example does include the Destination as a Windows OneDrive folder.

The destination, of course, can be changed.

It is important and necessary that any destination is available (part of the user's account or network), signed-in (for example, as would be necessary to reach a OneDrive Cloud account), and that the destination folder is Shared to allow for read / write access.

Query

How to share a folder in windows 11?

Answer

To share a folder in Windows 11, right-click the folder, select "Show more options," then choose "Give access to" and select "Specific people." You can then choose who to share the folder with or select "Everyone" for all network users.

Thanks.  I have tried all that but it still isn't working.

You are welcome.

I don't know.

If it worked once, it ought to work again, I think.

If you are confident of the setup, perhaps try using a local application or software to save to the same destination / folder.

Regardless, try a different destination, too.

Using an application or Scan software cannot fix your Quick Set, of course -- it might at least partially eliminate the destination as part of the issue.

The same rules apply --

  • The printer and the device (PC) sending the job must be on the same network.
  • The Cloud account, if used, must be locally signed in and have Shared folder permissions set.
  • Windows, at least, wants all jobs involving a Driver to have that driver assigned as the installed HP Driver and not the IPP / Microsoft driver.  This setting is, as you know, in Printer Properties.
  • Any destination must be locally mapped to your local system and have the appropriate sign-in and permissions set in place.  For example, if your destination folder is on a NAS connected to your network, the Shared folder settings apply.  In addition, consider adding the destination folder to Group Everyone / Everybody (on the NAS).

-- Example - Windows - HP Universal Scan software --

Main menu  Shortcut = Save as PDF (or a Custom Shortcut)

Right Side Menu → Adjust settings

right Side Menu → Lower Right corner → Click Send To

OR

Select More → Destination

OK, thank you. You have narrowed it down for me as the full software download via HP Easy Start has resulted in the printer showing the assigned driver as the IPP/Microsoft driver. I was trying to do a manual switch but the HP printer driver is embedded in the .exe file. How do I locate the path of the HP driver please?

OK - Good progress.

You are welcome.

I might not understand what you are asking.

Perhaps...

Find the Driver assignment settings in Printer Properties.

Windows - Printer Properties

 Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

Right-Click on your Printer > Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

Windows 11

Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

Verify / Correct the Driver = the installed HP driver and not the IPP / Microsoft drivers

This shows the Microsoft IPP driver and the only HP driver shown in the drop down box is a fax driver. Windows 11 seems to be forcing the use of the IPP driver….. I don’t seem to have an HP printer driver even though I downloaded the full features software from HP

HP Recommended

The problem seems to be that HP now releases unified packages such as Easy Start and Smart rather than individual standalone drivers and Windows 11 automatically overrides specific branded drivers in favour of the Microsoft IPP driver.

Update / Edit - Add Examples

True -- Additional choices, and what might appear to be obscure options, has changed the landscape.

Try / Consider

Install the Full Solution package (504.9 MB).

Next

Check / Adjust the Default Printer settings

Recheck / Adjust Printer Properties

1)  Printer Software - Full Driver / Optional Universal Scan Software

2)  Default Printer

=========================

Printer Software - Full Driver

Reinstall the full driver printer software

-- Note --

If you do not want / need the added information, Scroll down to Web Pack Installation

Check / Apply Windows Updates

  • Check / Install any pending Windows Updates
  • If any updates are applied in Windows Updates, Restart your computer and log in

Next,

Uninstall existing printer software

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
  • If your printer software includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.

Install full driver printer software

  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

Web Pack Installation - Open Web Page - Full Driver Printer Software

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw-3303fdw and 3388fdw Driver Installation Software – Includes Print,...

  • Open the Web Page
  • Download, Save, and Install the software.
  • NOTE → If forced to use the "Internet connection required" web pack → If you have issues installing the software, consider using the Microsoft Edge browser to download and initiate / start the installation.
  • If using a USB cable to connect the printer to your computer, connect the cable when instructed to do so, near the end of the software installation process.
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Short Version Done

=============================

HP Universal Scan Software - Optional

Separately -- Supported on this printer and Windows 11

Installation of the HP Universal Scan Software adds an "HP Scan" self-named shortcut icon to the Desktop.

NOTE

If you have installed the full driver printer software,

And

If the HP Scan that is installed is the "new format" (larger GUI and new layout),

Then

In general, you perhaps do not need to install HP Universal Scan -- the version of HP Scan that installs with the software for this printer is a functional match to the HP Universal Software.

That said, if you can't stand it for any reason, the system will tolerate installing both the full driver and the HP Universal Scan software.

HP Universal Scan Software

Printer Model and Operating System version Dependent >>

When the software is installed, HP Universal Scan Software adds a self-named HP Scan software shortcut to the Desktop.

Note

Where supported, HPUSS can be installed as standalone or installed after the full feature / full solution printer software.

Open website  HP Universal Scan Full Feature Software

If needful, choose a different OS > Open all

Find / Download / Save / Install HP Universal Scan – Full Feature Software and Driver Webpack

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

=======================================

HP Containers / Desktop Shortcuts

Next,

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.

-- Driver Assistant --

  • The Printer Assistant and the HP Scan Assistant, are dependent on printer model and supported software options for that printer.
  • The Assistant type that is supported with a particular printer will be installed with that printer's full driver printer software.
  • HP Scan, the format determined by the printer model, is installed with the full driver for the printer.

-- No Assistant companion --

HP Universal Scan Software - Model and Operating System / version dependent

  • When installed, the HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self named “HP Scan” shortcut

-- Assistant and HP Scan -- Naming Conventions --

  • Printer Assistant – Where supported as part of the printer model's full driver printer software
  • HP Scan – Shortcut added to the Desktop is named for the printer model

OR

  • HP Scan Assistant – For those printer models that do not support the Printer Assistant
  • HP Scan - Shortcut added to the Desktop is named for itself "HP Scan"

Next,

-- Manage Scan to Computer --

Open the Assistant type installed with your full driver printer software

Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable

Or

HP Scan Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
