Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

I solved Scan to Network Folder authentication on an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3303 with Windows 11 Home.

HP's documentation says to leave the Windows Domain field blank when using a local Windows account. On this printer, that did not work.

Configuration that worked:

- Network path: \\COMPUTERNAME\ShareName
- Sign-in method: Use the following credentials
- Windows Domain: COMPUTERNAME
- Username: local account name only
- Password: local account password

With the Windows Domain field blank, Verify Access failed. Windows logged Microsoft-Windows-SMBServer/Security Event ID 551 from the printer. The event showed an empty username and status 0xC000000D (ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER), with session setup failing before the SPN could be queried.

After entering the Windows computer name in the Windows Domain field, Verify Access succeeded immediately. I then performed an actual scan from the printer control panel, and the PDF was successfully saved to the SMB share.

For this model/firmware and a local Windows account, try entering the computer name as the Windows Domain instead of leaving the field blank.

Do not weaken SMB security, enable SMB1, or change Windows security policies before trying this.

This write-up was prepared with help from OpenAI Codex after we diagnosed and verified the issue together.

Hello @businay, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for taking the time to share your findings and the detailed investigation you performed.

We appreciate you documenting the behavior you observed with the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3303 when configuring Scan to Network Folder using a local Windows account. Your testing clearly demonstrates that, in your environment, specifying the computer name in the Windows Domain field allowed authentication to succeed, whereas leaving the field blank resulted in access verification failures.

It's especially helpful that you included the SMB security event details and confirmed that the configuration was validated by successfully completing an actual scan to the network share. This information may benefit other users who encounter similar authentication issues when using local Windows accounts.

We also appreciate your emphasis on maintaining current security practices and avoiding unnecessary changes to SMB security settings before testing this configuration.

Thank you again for contributing this solution and for sharing such a thorough write-up with the HP Community.

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
