Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Dear HP Support,

We are experiencing an issue with an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4302 network printer/scanner.

Error Message

When opening HP Scan and attempting to scan, we receive the following error:

Scanner communication cannot be established. Please verify your device is powered on, that you are connected to the network and your network is functioning properly, and that the scan feature is enabled.

In some cases, HP Scan also reports:

The HP Imaging Device was not found.

Environment

  • Printer model: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4302
  • Connection: Network (Ethernet)
  • Printer IP: 192.168.1.151
  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • Printer is installed using a Standard TCP/IP Port (not WSD)
  • Web interface (EWS) is accessible without issues

Current Status

  • Printing works normally.
  • The printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) is accessible.
  • Web Scan functionality works successfully through the browser.
  • Network connectivity to the printer is confirmed.
  • Ports 80 and 443 are reachable.
  • Remote Scan, eSCL, eSCL Secure, Network Initiated Scanning and Web Scan are all enabled on the printer.

Troubleshooting Performed

We have already performed the following:

  1. Completely uninstalled and reinstalled:
    • HP Scan
    • HP OCR
    • HP EmailSMTP Plugin
    • HP SFTP Plugin
    • HP SharePoint Plugin
    • Printer and scanner drivers
  2. Removed and re-added the printer using its IP address.
  3. Verified Windows services:
    • Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    • Function Discovery Provider Host
    • Function Discovery Resource Publication
    • SSDP Discovery
    • UPnP Device Host
  4. Confirmed that the scanner appears in:
    • Control Panel → Scanners and Cameras
  5. Verified that:
    • Web Scan works successfully.
    • The scanner is detected by Windows.
  6. Tested with:
    • HP Scan
    • NAPS2
    • Windows Scanners and Cameras
  7. Verified that:
    • WS-Scan is enabled.
    • Remote Scan settings are enabled.
    • User Authentication is disabled.

Additional Information

A very important observation is that:

  • The issue affects two computers on the same network.
  • However, on another computer within the same network, scanning works correctly using the same printer, same IP address, and the same driver package.

This suggests that:

  • The scanner hardware is functioning correctly.
  • The printer is reachable and operational.
  • The issue may be related to communication between the HP scanning software and the affected Windows systems.

Firmware

The printer currently reports firmware version:

6.17.5.34-202412122146

Additionally, the printer displays:

"Invalid Manifest"

when attempting to perform a firmware update check through the Embedded Web Server.

Could you please advise if this issue is related to a known firmware, scanner service, WIA/TWAIN, eSCL, or HP Imaging Device problem and provide any recommended troubleshooting steps?

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,
Yiannis Antonarakos
