HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw

I've had a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw for a few years now and admittedly just used the ID Copy feature for the first time to make a copy of my driver's license.  I noticed that when the copy prints, whether I use PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE, the images are off-center on the page.

When using PORTRAIT, the images printer further to the right on the page (more white space on the left of the page than the right) and if I try to use LANDSCAPE, the images printer further to the top of the page (more white space on the bottom of the page than the top).

All other printing is fine (centered on the page properly).  It's just when using the ID SCAN/COPY feature that the scanned images are off-centered on the page in both orientations.  I'm assuming since it's similar behavior with both orientations that this may be normal / by design, but I'm curious if anyone else could confirm this or let me know if it's just me?

Thanks in advance.

Just tested this on my HP Enterprise Laserjet 577 and using 2 sided ID copy and placing the ID into the upper left corner of the glass before scanning results in images that are on the left margin and spaced down the page. I do not believe the intent is to center them on the page and placing the document in the middle of the glass may confuse the algorithm used to this function.

Hi.  I'm not putting the ID in the middle of the scanner.  I am positioning it in the top left of the scanner bed, as directed (close to but not touching the edge sides of the scanner bed, per the instructional pop-up on the screen).

When I do this, it automatically prints with the images moved further towards the right-hand side of the page versus the images being centered on the page.  The same when I change the orientation setting - then it prints closer to the top of the page versus the bottom.

Can you post a sample? As stated, on my device the two images are against the left hand side one at the top and one halfway down the page. Based on spacing it would appear to be to fit a passport.

I'll find a non-personal ID card to scan and print and scan the output.

Like I said, I have a feeling it's by design but it's not the whole way go the side so I wasn't sure.
