Hi @Tigermartin,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

(Looks like your printer’s pulling its weight, but the scanner’s decided to take a coffee break ️! No worries – let’s help your scanner get back to work without having to schedule a meeting. Here’s a quick guide to get it back in action! 💪)

Check the Connections:

  • Make sure the printer is properly connected to your network (either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
  • If you're using USB to connect to your computer, ensure the cable is securely plugged in.

Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve scanning issues. Power off both the printer and your computer, then turn them back on.

Check for Software Updates:

  • Ensure the printer drivers and scanning software on your computer are up to date. You can download the latest drivers and software from HP’s official website.

Ensure Correct Scan Settings:

  • Double-check the scan settings in the HP Smart app or any other scanning software you’re using. Sometimes incorrect settings or a specific mode can prevent the scanner from working.

Scan from Printer's Control Panel:

  • Try initiating a scan directly from the printer's control panel, if possible. This will help determine if the issue lies with the printer or the connection to your computer.

Firewall/Security Software:

  • Some security software may block the scanning connection. If you have firewall or antivirus software running, temporarily disable it to see if the scan function works.

Reinstall HP Software:

  • If the above steps don’t work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP printer software. Sometimes, corrupted files can prevent the scanner from functioning properly.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any error messages on the printer display or your computer when attempting to scan. These might provide a clue to the problem.

With any luck, one of these steps will get your scanner working again 🚀. If not, remember – even tech needs a little encouragement sometimes! 🙌 And if all else fails, HP’s support team is just a click away, ready to assist you out of the digital jungle 🐾

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
