Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP DeskJet 2720e All-in-One Printer

I prefer to print and scan without using HP Smart so I decided to make use of HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software.

I downloaded HPEasyStart-13.6.5-DJ2700_51_4_4865_1_Webpack.exe but unfortunately the installation process hangs up and fails to complete.

A second problem is the the process tries to make use of Windows Explorer, despite the fact that my default browser is Firefox.

I would add that both HP Smart and the HP Support Assistant that goes with it are rather slow.

Maybe the cloud is too far from NZ. 😊

Any input and info will be gratefully received.

Welcome to the HP Support Community

 

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Desk Jet 2720e - Print and/or copy without HP Smart. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

Let's perform a power drain: 

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware 

 

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

You can install all three on the unit
