Category: HP Digital Fax Duplicating File with Error

 

Recently set up HP Digital Fax with files saving to a network folder as a PDF with auto print option turned off. 

 

After a few days of receiving faxes without any issues I noticed that the same file kept attempting to save every couple of minutes. If we tried to open any of the files (original or duplicates) we got an error and the file would not open.

 

I reviewed the fax log and noticed that the file that kept duplicating showed "Saved" to Digital Fax but the Result showed "Error 244" 

 

from that point on all incoming faxes on the log showed that they had "Not saved" to Digital Fax but the Result was "OK"

 

I tried to contact support to tell me how to stop the file from regenerating and retrieve the faxes that had not save but had been received successfully. They where unable to help as printer was no longer under warranty. Option they offered pay for support to troubleshoot or buy a new printer. Frustrating, but I get it. 

 

As a last resort I turned OFF the Digital Fax. 

The faxes on the log started to print immediately from newest to oldest. Even the fax with "Error 244" printed. 

I have turned the Digital Fax back ON.  Hoping it will resume normal function.
