Product: HP ENVY 120 e-All-in-One Printer

When I attempted to scan or copy from my Envy 120, the light would not come on.  This would distort the document creating colored lines.  I had this problem for several years.  I attempted to find the answer online to no avail.  Last night, I decided  to remove the two screws on the scanner lid.  There are 2 screws located on the inside of the bottom lid, right and left side.  Once removed, slide the lid down and it will come off.  

 

Now I have access to examine any issues with the ribbons. The ribbon on the back near the plug has probably tangled at the back of the lid explaining why the light would not come on.  Detangled the ribbon, push back inside the lid, try not to pinch the  ribbon, slide the slid on, replace screws, and the light should work again.
