HP ENVY Photo 7830 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

In the past I could start a scan from the printer front panel.

I cannot do that now.  I have to start the scan from the computer (Mac Mini M1) using the HP app or Preview.

The printer front panel still shows an icon labelled 'SCAN' but it does not work.

This was a really useful feature and I would like it back please!

Any help would be most welcome.

Hi @PabloPrinto,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain on the printer.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

Restart all the devices which you use to print on your printer and check if that works.

B) Kindly refer to the steps from this link  to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Hi Irwin6 and thanks for your reply.

I followed all the steps carefully but unfortunately it didn't work.

When I try to scan to computer from the control panel on the printer I see this message:

"To scan to computer visit123.hp.com/setup to download HP software (full software and drivers)."

Thanks again

Pablo
