HP Easy Scan Error with Mac

Easy Scan no longer seems to work with my Mac which is incredibly frustrating. All I get is the error HP Scanner 3 will damage your computer.

Is there a temporary workround?

Are HP and Apple going to fix this ASAP?

So here is how I fixed this for my HP ENVY 4520, as this happened to me yesterday for printing and scanning

1. Removed all old applications using finder by sending to trash and then emptying trash

2. Went to HP website and downloaded the new install.    It's called HP Smart and for me it was under Driver - Installation software

3.  Once downloaded I installed the new app

4. Opened HP smart and used the scan feature in the HP Smart App (believe its the last box on top row) to successfully scan the document I needed to scan.

5. Tried to print and got same error as for scanner so  I went to system dialog and removed the printer from the printer settings

5. Opened HP smart again and in the bottom left there is a grey box I believe that says install (or install printer, cant remember)

6. Went to the doc that I needed to print and I was able to print without error.

I know it may seem like a pain, but the alternative is to wait for some miracle patch that never comes and you're without a printer for days.  The date of release looks like it was June or July of 2020 for this new app and would appear to replace HP Easy Scan.
