Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

MacBook Air

I just installed the software for the HP Envy 5540 all-in-one to my MacBook Air.  It will scan a document but the HP Easy Scan and the printer itself does not give the option to add additional pages in order to save a multi-paged document into one pdf. On HP Easy Scan (which I've used on another laptop) it shows the options at the bottom (i.e.; the + sign, zoom, edit, send etc) but that bar is grayed out so I can't choose any of those options.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the scanning issue. 

 

To better assist you - 

 

1.) Have you tried scanning using Image Capture? 

2.) Make sure to wake the printer up before scanning. 

 

While you respond to that, try updating the Mac using these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

 

Update HP Easy Scan using these steps - 

 

1.) Open Finder, select Applications, and then look for HP Easy Scan.

2.) Open HP Easy Scan. On the upper bar, click HP Easy Scan, and then click Check for Updates. Download any available updates, and then reopen the app.

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
