@TartanA, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Envy 6555e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Envy 6555e scanner is defaulting to the HP Smart folder instead of directly saving to your OneDrive. Let's troubleshoot this step by step:

Check OneDrive Sync Status

  • Ensure OneDrive is running and signed in.
  • Check if OneDrive is syncing properly by looking for the cloud icon in the system tray. If there is a red X or pause symbol, click on it and resolve any sync issues.

Change Save Location in HP Smart

  1. Open HP Smart on your computer.
  2. Click on Scan and perform a test scan.
  3. Before saving, click on Save As or Browse.
  4. Manually select your OneDrive directory (e.g., C:\Users\YourName\OneDrive\Documents\Scans).
  5. Click Save and check if the file appears in OneDrive.

Check Folder Permissions

  • Navigate to your OneDrive folder.
  • Right-click the intended scan folder, select Properties → Security.
  • Ensure your user account has Full Control.
  • If not, click Edit, select your user, and check Full Control.

Verify OneDrive Backup Settings

  1. Open OneDrive Settings by right-clicking the cloud icon.
  2. Go to Sync and Backup (or Manage Backup in older versions).
  3. Ensure Documents is being backed up. If it isn't, enable it.

Reinstall HP Smart

If the issue persists, reinstall HP Smart:

  1. Uninstall HP Smart from Control Panel > Programs.
  2. Restart your PC.
  3. Download and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
  4. Set up scanning again and select OneDrive as the save location.

Let me know if you need more help!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
