Hi @Mathew01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 7640e printer is not printing despite showing that it is responding to your PC and attempting to print, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer. Open the access door and inspect the paper path.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Low ink levels may prevent printing. Replace any low or empty cartridges.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can often resolve temporary issues.

Restart the Computer:

  • Sometimes, issues with the PC can affect printing. Restart your computer and try printing again.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your PC. You can download the latest drivers from the HP official website.

Check Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and make sure there are no stuck or pending print jobs. Clear the print queue if necessary.

Reset the Printing System (Windows):

  • In some cases, resetting the printing system in Windows can help. Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," select your printer, and choose "Reset."

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your PC. If you're using a USB connection, try a different USB port. If it's a wireless connection, check the wireless settings.

Run Print Troubleshooter (Windows):

  • Use the built-in Print Troubleshooter in Windows to identify and fix printing problems. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooters," and run the "Printer" troubleshooter.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP support website and check for firmware updates for your printer. Firmware updates can address performance issues.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and then reinstall them. Ensure you use the latest drivers available on the HP website.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Consult your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a reset. This can sometimes clear internal errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
