Hello,

Please try the below steps.

  1. While the printer is ON, unplug the power cord from the printer.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Unplug any other cable ( like USB / Ethernet /Fax cord) connected to printer.
  4. Ensure the scan lid is closed.
  5. Connect the printer power cord directly to wall outlet ( bypass the surge protector or power strip ).
  6. Power ON the printer and wait until it is idle.
  7. Open the scan lid and check if the scan carriage is moving across the flatbed( scanner).
  8. If there is not light lit or scan carriage is getting stuck  it is a scanner module failure and printer need to be serviced.
  9. Now try scanning. If error still shows up, then its time to get the printer serviced. Its a hardware failure. May be its a logic board and scanner unit failure.

Jabzi
