M3035 MFP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Problem:  Scans to a network folder fail with the above 110/6005 error. On examination, it appears that a partial file was written to the network folder, but it was truncated at about one MB (although this value varies). Acrobat thinks the file is corrupt because it's not seeing a proper end of file marker, and won't open the PDF.

It appears that this may be a problem related to the removal of the Server Message Block version 1 protocol in recent Windows updates. Microsoft states that SMB v1 is dangerously unsecure and should no longer be used. See Microsoft KB2696547 for details.

I just finished a support call with HP. They are aware of the SMB v1 issue, and say that a firmware update for the M3035 MFP will be released within July 2018 to correct it.

Stay tuned . . . . .

An HP Technical White Paper titled "SMB Protocol Support for HP Printing Devices" (v. 1.7, June 2018) is available at:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05547920

It states that the M3035 MFP supports SMB v2.

Does this mean "with a firmware upgrade not yet released"?

Can someone from HP advise when that will be?

Further details on the problem:

1.  Scanning the same document to PDF with exactly the same settings produced the following test files in the network share:

     1     750KB

     2     1000KB

     2     1064KB

     1     1125KB

2.  All these PDFs were corrupt; they lack the required %%EOF end of file marker, and possibly other internals.

3.  Scanning a very small document, such that the PDF is say under 50KB, works fine. The PDF can be opened in Acrobat.

Conclusion:  The M3035 can create small PDFs and successfully write them to the network share, but it cannot do this with large PDFs. The size boundary where the corruption occurs has not been determined at this point.

Further update:  Opened another case with HP support and asked when the firmware update would be available. Unable to obtain a satisfactory reply. Support is essentially nonexistent for this issue. HP is a broken company.

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.

Although HP do not recommend using 3rd party software the only way that i found to get away with this problem was to use FileZilla server and changed the scanning to FTP.Hope that this might help.
