Solved! But disappointed...

Apparently, only the model 4302fdw can...

Hello @FSV ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

A) Printer settings Duplexer:
Search Windows for 'devices', and then click the Devices and Printers control panel setting in the results.

Right-click the icon for your printer model, and then
click Device Settings tab
Installable Options > Duplexer: installed

If not, change to installed.

B) Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory:

Enter the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

And read the User Guide from the page 52 Chapter 5 Copy and here https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_7344017-7344076-16

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards

I have not been clear enough about the issue. The printer I have is brand new and it does print duplex (to have the printer do this I had to tweak the driver forcing the duplex unit as "installed" instead than "automatic").

The issue I am having is, however, in the copy function which is (I think) independent from the printing function.

When I duplex copy from the glass it works perfectly: however, if I put a sheet of paper in the feeder the option for a duplex copy disappears from the menu. This is the issue: I have not found anything about this in the manual and in the HP support website. Has any owner of the same printer encountered the same issue?

Thanks for the support!

Hi,

in the 2nd link, see above, it says the following:

The printer allows you to copy a two-sided document. You can select an automatic or manual method, depending on if you copy from the document feeder or from the scanner glass.

Choose which method to use for copying the two-sided document (automatic or manual) and click that section below to expand it and follow the instructions provided.

Method one: Copy on both sides automatically

Use the automatic document feeder to copy a two-sided document without manual intervention.

  1. Load the original document into the document feeder with the first page facing up, and with the top of the page leading.

  2. Adjust the paper guides to fit the size of the document.

  3. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Options iconAndr1611_2-1713199279608.pngto the left of the Copy button.

  4. Touch Sides, and then touch the option you want to use for your copy job.

If you have two-sided originals, you can choose 2 to 1-sided to create single-sided copies, or 2 to 2-sided to create two-sided copies. If you have single-sided originals, you can choose 1 to 1-sided to create single-sided copies, or 1 to 2-sided to make two-sided copies.

  5. Touch the Close iconAndr1611_3-1713199722600.pngin the upper right corner of the screen to return to the Copy menu.

  6. Touch the Copy button to start copying.

Is that exactly how you proceeded?

As I have written in my previous post,  the printer I have is brand new and it does print duplex (to have the printer do this, I had to tweak the driver forcing the duplex unit as "installed" instead than "automatic").

The issue I am having is, however, in the copy function which is (I think) independent from the printing function.

When I duplex copy from the glass it works perfectly: however, if I put a sheet of paper in the feeder the option for a duplex copy disappears from the menu and apperas again if I remove the sheet from the document feeder. It appears to me that, contrary to what is written in the manual, duplex coping is available only if tou do it one sheet at the time from the glass and it is not available from the document feeder. This is the issue: I have not found anything about this in the manual and in the HP support website.

...

This is not the right approach!

1. load the original ...
2. ... Paper size
3. ... Home Screen ...
4. ... 2 to 2-sided

Was this exact order executed?
