Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I am experiencing an issue with the copy function on my HP M125a. While printing and scanning from the computer work perfectly, the standalone "Copy" function does not capture the full A4 area.

It seems the printer is defaulted to Letter (LTR) size for copying, which causes the bottom or sides of an A4 document to be cut off. I need to change the default copy paper size to A4, but I cannot find this setting in the printer’s basic control panel.

I have already tried:

Checking the paper trays.

Standard printing from PC (works fine in A4).

Could you please guide me on how to permanently change the default copy paper size to A4 for this specific model?

Hi @sigmaone,

I understand your HP LaserJet Pro M125a copy function is cutting off part of A4 pages. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and clarify what can and cannot be changed on this model.

Confirm the issue only affects the Copy button
Try printing and scanning from the computer in A4.
If both work correctly, the hardware and paper handling are fine.

Check the paper loaded in the tray
Make sure A4 paper is loaded and the paper guides are snug against the stack.
Incorrect guide alignment can worsen cropping but will not change copy defaults.

Understand the copy limitation of the M125a
This model has no display, no advanced copy menu, and no embedded web server.
The standalone Copy function is firmware-locked to Letter (LTR) size.

Verify there is no copy size setting available
There is no option on the control panel or in the software to change the default copy size.
This is expected behavior for the M125a and not a malfunction.

Use a PC-based copy as a workaround
Scan the document using HP Scan or HP Smart, then print it in A4.
This ensures the full A4 area is captured and printed correctly.

Adjust document placement on the scanner glass
Place the document slightly higher on the glass.
This can reduce bottom cropping but is not a permanent fix.

Test with reduced original size
If possible, slightly reduce the original document size before copying.
This helps it fit within the letter copy area.

Confirm firmware behavior is unchanged
Firmware updates do not add A4 copy selection to this model.
The limitation remains even after resets or updates.

I hope this helps.
