Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Reviving an old topic.  I had a print job stuck in the print queue and followed instructions to uninstall and reinstall the driver.  As a result I've lost an invaluable HP program that allowed me to copy, print, fax, or scan.  It even allowed me to scan multi-sided legal documents.  I really miss the program and don't even know what it was called.  Can someone steer me to a link where I can get it again?

Much obliged,

Hi @gymnast1946,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I understand you are having issues scanning double sided printing. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the Operating system installed on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac

Do you have the full feature software installed?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

For Windows:

I understand you are having issues while printing multiple pages on your Officejet printer. To further isolate the issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a multiple page "Photocopy" or not.

Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Change the number or copies to 6-7 and then try making the copy. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

If the copies come out good, then the printer hardware is functioning correctly. I’d like to reinstall the printer drivers tp fix the issue:

Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

Restart your computer.

Now click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-4630-e-all-in-one-printer-series/53050... and select the Operating system and version of Windows before downloading and installing the updated printer software.

Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

For Mac: Reset Printing system:

  • Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
  • Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
  • Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
  • Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
  • Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
  • Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
  • Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
  • Click the “Add button” (+).
  • Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
  • Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for the detailed response.   My desktop PC is Windows 10 (64 bit).   I had already uninstalled and reinstalled the OJ4630_198.exe file and was able to configure the printer to work wirelessly.   With the use of the paper feeder I'm able to do successful copies of multiple pages using the buttons on the printer but when I try to do the same thing with the scan button I get the following:

I guess I can reconnect the USB cable but my original question still stands.  I managed to lose a great program that elimiated the need to use the buttons on the printer.  It was  a control panel.  It contained several functions within a grid.   I was able to click a box and then select any of several  functions including multi page scanning etc.  I really miss that program and can't find where to download it again.

The program I'm seeking is called HP Printer Assistant.  Where can I go to download it?   I really miss having it.

I tried downloading the HP solution center but Norton said the program was unsafe.  When I try to open Solution Center on my PC I get the following message:

Hi @gymnast1946,

Thank you for replying,

I see that you are having issues while scanning since the solution center is not getting installed. Solution center is an older software and hence may not be compatible with the new Windows 10 environment.

I would suggest you use HP Scan and Capture application to scan using your Windows 10 system. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications as well.

Go to http://hp.care/2bUVkrw to download and install the Windows Scan and Capture app.

Alternatively, you can try these steps to install HP Solution center.

The HP solution center is for older printer models and hence has a compatibility issue while running in Windows 10 environment. The issue might have been caused by recent updates on your computer. I would suggest you a workaround by changing the compatibility on the drivers. Follow the steps below (Check the fig below for ref):

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them. (Including the HP solution center)
  • Restart your computer.
  • Go to  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL49503/mp-120038-6/OJ4630_198.exe  and download and save the full feature driver file (Do not run the file, just download and save it to your desktop or download folder)
  • Now go to the download location, right-click on the driver file and select “Properties”.
  • Under “Compatibility” tab, check the box which says “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select “Windows 8” (In fig, I have selected Windows 7, but make sure you select Windows 8).
  • Also, select the box “Run this program as an administrator”.
  • Apply and save the settings.
  • Now double-click and run the program.

That should get the solution center working. Let me know!

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

I performed all the steps for Mac, but I am still not able to scan both sides automatically.

What else can I do?

Thanks!
