Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello , I am having issues with the scanner.

Last week, all of a sudden, the scanner stopped working for me. Both the glass one and the auto feeder one. No physical damage or hard hit has occurred.

I did a small reinstall of "HP Smart" and the glass scanner is now working properly. The Document Feeder  is not working though. The printer display gives the following error:  " The document feeder was not able to pick up the original. Make sure the document feeder is closed completely, load the original in the document feeder and try again. "

I insert the paper ad it makes the usual small noise, and the same scanning noises like usual... so I do not see any mechanical issues. The fact that it stopped working all together and partly recovered after an install makes me think it's a software issue , but the error message displayed suggests it's mechanical. Any ideas or things I could check?

Please note that if i do try to make a installation with an "all in one" file like this OJ5200_Full_WebPack_44.4.2679 (the correct file for my OS and printer series) I cannot proceed because it does not see the printer in the network. However, with "HP Smart" installation everything was working fine until last week. I would be happy to try a hard reinstall and remove all the drivers manually, but I am not sure I would be able to do it (I am quite illiterate on these things in fact) so I'd need precise guidance.

I hope someone can help  and I thank you in advance for your assistance on this.

Kind regards,

Claudio

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your printer is not picking up paper from ADF, I am glad to assist you.

Clean the ADF rollers and the separator pad

Dust or paper residue on the rollers or separator pad inside the ADF can result in paper feed issues. Open the ADF, and then clean the ADF rollers and separator pad.

  1. Lift the ADF cover.

  2. Check for obstructions inside the ADF. Make sure nothing blocks the paper from engaging with the rollers. Even small pieces of paper can cause paper feed issues.

  3. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  4. Press the cloth against the rollers, and then rotate them upward with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

  5. Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

  6. Close the ADF cover tightly at both ends.

Reset the printer

Sometimes an error persists even though there is no paper feed issue. Reset the printer, and then try to print.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Let me know how it goes.
