HP OfficeJet 5510
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I'm trying to scan my paper docs to declutter.  Scanner keeps aborting  during or sometimes after the paper has gone all the way throught the feeder.

Error message says  "A Problem prevented the document from being scanned. Please try again or for Troubleshooting Information see Help and Support or the information that came with the scanner" .

After looking around for help suggestions, I removed the electric cord from the printer/scanner and also disconnected from the power strip.  I moved the plug to a direct wall outlet, plugged the cord back in to the printer/scanner and restarted.  The next scan worked and after saving it, I tried another scan which aborted with the same error message.  I have now done this at least 10 times.  Any help willl be appreciated!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Run your registry editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StillImage and delete the Stillimage key.

To open registry editor:

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. In the Start Menu, either in the Run box or the Search box, type regedit and press Enter. ...
  3. If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to open the Registry Editor.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
