I am having issues when scanning and copying on my HP OfficeJet 6975. The scanner is producing lines down one side of the page. I have tried updating the firmware, cleaning the scanner glass from the under side and reset the printer. None of the above made a difference. Does the scanner lamp need replacing?

Yes that is a defective scanner.
