Hi @Suzanne9926 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to set up your HP OfficeJet 8015e to scan from your computer involves a few steps.

Here's a general guide to help you through the process:

  • Install the Software: Ensure that you have installed the necessary software and drivers for your HP OfficeJet 8015e on your computer. You can usually find the installation CD that came with your printer or download the drivers and software from the HP website.
  • Connect the Printer: Make sure your printer is connected to your computer either via USB cable or through a wireless network connection. For wireless connection, ensure that both your printer and computer are connected to the same network.
  • Open HP Printer Assistant (Windows) or HP Utility (Mac): These are the applications provided by HP that allow you to manage your printer settings and perform scanning tasks.
  • Set Up Scan Preferences: In the HP Printer Assistant or HP Utility, look for the option to set up scan preferences. You may be able to configure settings such as scan resolution, file type, and destination folder.
  • Test the Scanner: Once you have set up your preferences, test the scanner by placing a document or photo on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (if available) and initiating a scan from your computer.
  • Scan from Computer: To scan from your computer, open the HP scanning software, select the type of scan you want to perform (e.g., document or photo), adjust any settings as needed, and then initiate the scan.
  • Save or Share Scanned Files: After the scan is complete, you can choose to save the scanned file to your computer, email it, or send it to a cloud storage service.
