HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 - scan to mail addresses lost

Since some days all e-mail addresses in "scan to mail" are gone.
How is this possible? And what can be done to restore them?

Scan to email addresses are stored on the printer in printer memory.

I would guess the printer memory lost the addresses.

I do not know of a way to restore data lost from printer memory.

If you choose to do so,

Consider

Try instead HP Smart for Windows software from your computer to scan and then email the scan content.

You do need an mail client / mail program on the computer to which you have attached your email address.

If that mail program also includes a Contacts list, it can be used to find and send mail to the selected recipient(s).

HP Smart is an application available from the Windows Store.

Learn how to use HP Smart on your Windows 10 computer.

Open the Software and Drivers Support Website for your printer > Check the Box Get the App

NOTE:  Website includes the HP Smart software for Windows and Mobile devices, plus an FAQ section to assist with questions / issues

Once installed, HP Smart for Windows can scan your document / photos and then "Share" the scan using Mail.

Set up HP Smart for Windows

For best results, log into your HP Account (HP Smart / HP Connected)

Add your printer

Reminder:  The printer and computer must be on the same network - Wireless or Wired Ethernet both work.

When ready to use the software

Open HP Smart for Windows

Select Scan

Set the Scan Preset to Document or Photo

Select the Source (ADF or glass)

Adjust other settings

Click  Scan

After the item is scanned and you see the result on the menu,

Optional >  Edit (upper right corner)

When ready, Click Share

Select a protocol - Mail

Select your "Mail From" address / email

Type in the address of the recipient 

NOTE:  If your "Mail From" address has a Contact list, typing the address or clicking on the icon for the address book will let you choose your recipients.

Add other content (message) below the line that includes the tiny scan preview

When ready, Click Send (upper right corner in the example)
