HP Office Jet Pro 8020
macOS 10.14 Mojave

2 Issues: The first page of any scan is always blank, whether it is on glass top or document feeder. Is this a setting I cannot find?

I can only scan from computer. Printer will not allow me to scan from it directly unless directive comes from computer.

Any ideas?

@naptime7k, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that you have issues with scanning, let us try to isolate and resolve the issue-

What happens when you make copies on the printer? Is the first page still blank?

Are you using the HP Easy Scan Application to scan from?

To scan from the printer front panel, you need to enable the scan to computer and here is how you do it-

  1. On the Mac, open Finder , click Go in the top menu bar, and then click Applications.

  2. Double-click the HP folder, and then double-click HP Utility.

    NOTE:

If you cannot find HP Utility, try scanning with another app or method, such as HP Easy Scan or Scan to Email.

  3. Click All Settings, click Scan to Computer, and then select the box next to Enable Scan to Computer.

Enable scan to computer in HP Utility

  4. On the printer control panel, navigate to the scan menu or icon, and then select your computer name.

  5. Start a scan job.

Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac) for additional help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
