HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased the HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e, and to my surprise, the functionality to "Scan to network folder"  from the panel is missing. I also checked the EWS and no relevant setup is there. The printer is updated with the latest firmware.

My older 87xx series, around the same price range, had these functionalities.

The only available option from the panel is to 'scan to computer' that sends the scan to the legacy windows program 'fax & scan' that saves scanned documents as images.

Can you please advise if missing these functionalities is normal?

Is there is a firmware version or setting to enable this functionality?

Thank you.

Hi @geo0gr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're missing the functionalities "Scan to Network Folder" and "Scan to Email" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e. These functionalities are typically available on multifunction printers to provide convenient ways to scan and send documents.

To troubleshoot the issue, here are a few steps you can try.

  • Verify network connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network. Check the network settings on the printer's control panel and make sure it is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Update firmware: Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your OfficeJet Pro 8022e. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and add new features.
  • Check printer software: Make sure you have installed the appropriate software and drivers for your printer on your computer. You can download the latest software package from the HP Support website. The software should include the necessary utilities for scanning and configuring scan destinations.
  • Configure scan settings: On the printer's control panel or through the printer software on your computer, navigate to the scan settings. Look for options related to "Scan to Network Folder" and "Scan to Email." Ensure that these features are enabled and properly configured with the correct network folder path or email settings.
  • Reset printer settings: If the above steps don't work, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer's user manual or visit the HP Support website for instructions on how to perform a reset. After the reset, reconfigure the printer settings and check if the missing functionalities are now available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,

Thank you for the detailed information, but I already tried all of these before posting.

After searching the HP website for the product specs, I discovered, to my surprise, that the OfficeJet Pro 8xxx series doesn't support (anymore because my old 8xxx printer did) these important features that improve productivity.

I hope during an firmware upgrade these features will be included, because as it is now the Scan functionality is useless and very time consuming for office use (even for home use).

Sadly I am very disappointed of this printer due to the scanning features.
