OfficeJet Pro 8610 Scanner
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Tonight, I installed the full version of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 All-In-One Printer.

I can print to the printer (via wireless) but I can not scan to my  computer.

I tried to open up the HP Scan folder in my programs folder but I get the following warning:"The HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 was not found."

I tried to install HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1 but the program  stops working warning appears each time I attempt to install it.

Can someone help me?

I want to be able to scan documents to my coomputer.

I have spent three hours trying to resolve this issue ans have gotten no where.

Please assist.

Hi @Kingston89

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that you are unable to scan from your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610

I'd like to help.

Are you able to make a Copy directly from the Printer?

I suggest you start with a Printer Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Next, uninstall all the Printer Driver from Root level

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer, download the Full Feature Software & the Firmware from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Keep me posted how it goes.

Thank you. 🙂

Thanks for the response.

I tried your solution but it did not work.

I reinstalled the driver as you suggested after deleting driver and temp filesbut it still did not work.

When I attempt to open HP Scan from the HP folder within the program files (from Start menu), it states that HP Officejet Pro 8610 was not found. I don't understand why. I can print documnets from the computer to printer.

Also, I think HP Officejet is not installed properly for the printer can not find the printer.

Should I try installing drive using CD? I thought the HP website had all the drivers needed but I believe something is wrong.

Please assist.

Hi @Kingston89

Are you able to make a Copy directly from the Printer?

If you have the original installation CD, please uninstall the printer drivers and try reinstalling the printer with the CD.

If the issue persists, try installing the Printer using the Windows Built-In Driver.

Please refer to this Video.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks
