HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 multifunction printer worked perfect using Microsoft Win 10.  Same printer cannot scan since upgrading my operating system to Win 11.  The printer still prints great, but my PC doesn't even recognize that I have a multi-function scanner attached.

How do I fix this?

@HelpRice, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer can print but is unable to scan after upgrading to Windows 11, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 is updated to the latest version since updates can include drivers and patches that may resolve compatibility issues.

Download and Install Updated Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website
  • Search for your printer model and download the latest full-feature drivers and software for Windows 11.
  • Install the drivers and restart your computer.

Check HP App:

  • Use the HP app, available from the Microsoft Store, to see if it can access the scanner.
  • This app often includes scanning capabilities and can communicate better with HP devices.

Verify Scanner Settings:

  • Open the HP Printer Assistant software on your PC.
  • Go to "Scanner Actions" and select "Manage Scan to Computer".
  • Ensure that "Enable Scan to Computer" is checked.

Troubleshoot Devices and Hardware:

  • Right-click the Start button and select "Settings".
  • Navigate to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the "Printer" and "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooters.

Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click on Start > Device Manager).
  • Expand the "Imaging devices" section and check if your scanner is listed.
  • If not, right-click in Device Manager and select "Scan for hardware changes".

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
