I'm trying to use Scan-to-Email in the HP Smart App from an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Running Windows 10 Professional. Scanning to E-mail by using the Printer On-Screen Display works just fine.
Openinh the HP Smart App and clicking Scan and the Scan preview image shows just fine on the computer screen. Then click the Share Option, and a list of options comes up.
First, I get a list of e-mail recipients. Not sure where this list is coming from, and would like to know more about this as well. Then I get a list of options, one of which is Mail.
This is what I want to do, scan the document and have it arrive in an email. However, when I click this option, instead of my default e-mail application, Outlook (as part of Office 365), I get the Windows Mail client that's built into Windows 10. This is not sufficient and unacceptable.
How do I make the Scan-to-Email option from the HP Smart App use my default e-amil application, Outlook, instead of the built in Windows Mail? I have checked the Windows 10 defaults, and Outlook is set to the default mail applicaton, and the computer was restarted after this setting was checked.
Thanks,
Tony

Hi,
The HP Smart app allow sharing a scan with Windows Store apps only, similar type of apps as HP Smart.
It will not default to yoru default mail application but to Windows Store apps only, as described under 'Scan a document or photo from your printer' below:
Share: Send the scan job in an email, share via social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, or save the scan in a cloud storage account, such as Box or OneDrive. You can also look for other apps in the Windows Store.

You may download and install the latest HP Full Feature Software below, be sure to select Automatic Setup while installing.
The full feature software allows scanning to yoru default scan application such as Outlook:

I've tried completely uninstalling all of the HP software and reinstalling the Full Feature Software linked below and it still won't Share to Outlook. Keeps going to Mail which doesn't work. Any other ideas? The printer will print and scan just fine - it just doesn't allow "Sharing" to Outlook.
